Colorado Elite Holds Off Slammers Avalanche To Win The Front Range Baseball's Fall Championship

Several of our Summer League independent teams returned to play in the Front Range Baseball Fall League.  It was very fitting for the Colorado Elite and Slammers Avalanche squads to meet in the Front Range Baseball Fall League Championship game.  Both squads played at an exceptional level over a combined 32 game schedule and their hard work paid off.

The championship game came down to pitching and execution.  Matthew Casillas led things off on the mound for Colorado Elite 13U. Casillas surrendered two runs on five hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out nine.  Matthew worked out of a bases loaded jam to in the second inning to keep the Avalanche off of the boards.  The Avalanche kept putting pressure on Matthew but he pitched strong and held the Avalanche in check into the 5th inning.

Dean started the game for Slammers Avalanche (Riley) 13U.  He held the Elite squad off the board with an excellent performance off of the mound backed by some stellar defense.  Dean allowed only three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out two and walking zero. Benjamin Baumgartner came into the game behind him and threw scoreless innings out of the bullpen as the Avalanche tried to mount a comeback.

All of the Elite offense came in the fourth inning and was started by Beau smacking a solo home run on the first pitch of the inning sending it over the right field fence.  Elite tacked on two more runs after singles by A. Smith and Matthew Casillas followed by a well hit ball by Trevor Lang earning him an RBI.

Slammers Avalanche (Riley) 13U lost despite out-hitting Colorado Elite 13U six to three.  Ryan Hughes led Slammers Avalanche (Riley) 13U with two hits in three at bats. Diesel Bernosky singled in a run on a hard hit ball to left field to draw the Avalanche to within a run in the 5th inning.

The Colorado Elite were able to keep the Avalanche off the board for the rest of the game and take home the championship.
